Many countries regulate what kind of investments can be made available to investors. The regulations are there to protect you, the investor. For investors with a lot of experience and money, regulatory authorities allows companies to make a much wider range of products with different types of risk available. For investors with less experience and money, rules are in place to protect the investor, limiting the type of investments that can be made available. In order to make sure we are following the rules set out by regulating authorities in different countries for different investors, we need to know what kind of investor you are.
